They Found Me

Hello everyone,

It has been quite awhile.  I wanted to share with you this wonderful story.   My daughter had done a DNA test and had been asking me to take one as well, she had been asking me for a while.  I just didn't feel the need to spend that kind of money on it.   So she decided she was going to get together with my son to get me one, well things happened on both ends and it was forgotten about by me, then I got an email from ancestry about a discount and I thought of what the heck, I could have never imagined it would end up like it did.

That was around early December.  I was checking for my results and I tried to contact some the matches and there were some that contacted me.  That was around January 19th on January 21 a person popped up her name was Teresa and she was directly under my daughter at that time I really didn't know much about how all of it worked, but it said 1st cousin and so I contacted her through Ancestry and she immediately contacted me back and gave me her number and wanted to meet, I was so excited by this so we agreed and we met at my work I figured that would make her feel safe, she asked if she could bring her mom with her and I said yes of course.  I knew that my boss wouldn't have a problem with it.

We sat down in the break room and I was explaining to her what the other people were telling me and she began to laugh and I kept talking but she continued to laugh and I really didn't think much about it, she stopped me and said Oh My Gosh I'm sorry I don't mean to laugh but you remind me of my Aunt Ruby you have the same jesters the same mannerisms it's freaking me out.  I asked her mom Kathy if they had known of a sister being given up and she said yes we knew of a brother and a sister.  She said I have to call my Auntie and she has to meet you.  In the meantime I had contacted one of the ladies I was taking to on Ancestry and she showed me how the numbers on Teresa's DNA were very high, and showing according to the centimorgan chart that she was a possible 1/2 niece and not a first cousin.  I contacted Teresa and she said it make sense and she believed I was her Aunt and her mom was my sister.  We agreed to meet again on Thursday and she would bring her Aunt Ruby, I
was so excited I could hardly wait until Thursday.  So Just from an hour of talking it was decided that yes I was the sister.

Running Around Like A Chicken With It's Head Cut Off

Hello my friends,

OMgosh I have been so busy since summer started I have been trying to get my house in order and what a job that is.  I have tons and tons of stuff and everything is just very unorganized.  So I think where oh where will I put all of these things.  I started trying to go through things and realized wow I have so much stuff that I need to get rid of.  I have a hard time getting rid of things.

So my 1st step was to visualize the room and I started with just one room.  I had some downtime at work and I would write down what I wanted the room to look like and also where I wanted things to be, you may not have this kind of time at work so you'll have to do it when you get home.

I would get home and I would not turn on the T.V. at all I got a 1 box at a time and started going through box by box, this was exhausting because my mental state was oh no I can't get rid of that I might need that.  I'm sure some of you can identify with that. But I forced myself to do it.  I kept telling myself that I can't live like this anymore and I need my life to be in order.

Once I cleared one spot on the shelf and that was one small box I started on another now during this time I also had my boy to take care of and other things that needed to be done but I stayed focused.  I just keep going and before I knew it I had 1 shelf done and boy was I thrilled. This gave me the initiative to keep going.

During this process, I found that it was not just an organizing thing it was a metal thing as well or more so for me I think.  I just kept telling myself that I could do it and I keep cheering myself on, and you know it works it really does.  To me, if you would have told me this I would have been yeah um no to silly.

Another thing that I did was I cleaned one area I made sure that that area did not get messy again.

I work full-time and I travel about 45 minutes to get home so I get home around 6:15 or so usually by the time I get dinner and clean that mess < um no I usually leave that mess for later lol.  I really don't feel like doing anything else I want to sit down and relax and watch America's got talent or something.  Not after I decided to embark on this journey, I said nope as soon as I get home I have to spend 15 minutes up to an hour clearing or cleaning something, this helped a lot and it seemed that as I went on the easier it got.

So am I done um no not by a longshot but at least now I can get to my bed lol.  It's a process and it's going to be a long one for me.  I am more than happy to share this and other milestones with you and hopefully I can help you to take the first step or maybe you can give me some suggestions as well we can help each other.

Thanks for stopping by  Heather with Ideas2come
